The Executive Summit on Sri Lanka’s Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) 2027 was successfully held on 8 September 2026.

The Executive Summit on Sri Lanka’s Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) 2027 was successfully held on 8 September 2026. Organized by the Sustainable Development Council and supported by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the Summit brought together key stakeholders from the government, private sector, development partners, academia, civil society and other sectors.

The Summit provided an important platform to introduce the VNR 2027 process and timeline, while creating an opportunity for stakeholders to share their perspectives, experiences and insights and contribute to the VNR process.

A dedicated Slido Q&A session, moderated by Prof. Janaka Fernando, Professor of Business Economics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Member of the Sustainable Development Council, enabled participants to share their views and insights on Sri Lanka’s Sustainable Development journey.

The Summit was honoured by the presence of the Chairman of the Sustainable Development Council (Secretary to the President), Secretary to the Prime Minister, Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and the UN Resident Coordinator. Key remarks were delivered highlighting the importance of collective action and multi-stakeholder engagement in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

The program also featured comprehensive presentations on “The Current Status of the SDGs in Sri Lanka” and the “Voluntary National Review Process – 2027,” delivered by the Director General of the Sustainable Development Council.

The Summit was attended by more than 160 participants, reflecting the strong commitment of diverse stakeholders towards advancing sustainable development and contributing to Sri Lanka’s Third VNR 2027.
