The Data Validation Workshop for the Health and Social Protection Thematic Group was successfully held on 02 June 2026 in virtual format. The workshop focused on reviewing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators relevant to the thematic area, with discussions aimed at improving the accuracy, quality and effectiveness of SDG data reporting and monitoring.
Key areas of discussion included revisiting existing indicators and targets, reviewing data availability, and strengthening reporting, and coordination mechanisms among relevant institutions. The workshop also provided an opportunity for participating agencies to identify additional indicators and data sources that could contribute to strengthening national SDG reporting and enhancing the availability of quality data across the health and social protection sector.
The session was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health & Mass Media, Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, Department of Registrar General, Disaster Management Centre and the Department of Labour. The representative of the Department of Census and Statistics also attended as an observer to provide technical assistance in validating the data.
